MOTORCYCLISTS are being warned that Montrose’s newest cycle path is off-limits for off-road biking.
It follows a joint operation at the end of April between local police and coastguard, mounted after complaints about motorbikes using the path between Kinnaber and Broomfield.
As a result, a Dundee man was reported to the procurator fiscal for road traffic offences.
Montrose community officer Ally Hutchison, who led the operation, said : “We received several complaints regarding the reckless manner in which motorbikes were being used on the new cycle path and devised an operation to combat this.
“I am satisfied with the detection, however it is disappointing to find that people are travelling to Montrose to use this area for off-road biking. We will continue to monitor the area and I urge members of the public to contact the police at the time if they see motorbikes being used on the cycle path and the surrounding area”.
