Angus will host its second cycling festival later this year which organisers say will be bigger and better than last year’s inaugural event.

The month-long event was organised by Angus Cycling Hub to showcase local talent through races and fun activities and to highlight the need for better infrastructure locally.

The group’s aim is to bring cycling and its health benefits to everyone; last year’s festival included 11 different activities and races with more than 530 participants and 500 visitors.

Scott Francis, the hub founder said: “The Festival is important to Angus because currently there are not enough cycling facilities, infrastructure and pathways for people to enjoy the sport in Angus. The money generated from the festival will help build and fund better infrastructure and opportunities for cyclists in the region.”

The main festival will take place in the Reid Park, Forfar on September 26 and 27 with trade stands, food and drink stalls, face painting, demo bikes and live music. It will offer something for everyone.
