When Daniel Moonen set off on a 162-mile sponsored walk for Montrose Basin Visitor Centre, where he is a volunteer, he set himself a target of £500.
The total has now reached £640.61, and is rising.
Along the way Daniel also acquired a walking stick and a support bandage, but was utterly determined to repay the faith people had shown in him, by completing the walk.
He was able to collect some money along the way, but most of the contributions are from this area.
Daniel walked the John Muir Way and the Berwickshire Coastal Path, completing the walk in Berwick-on-Tweed on Thursday.
Having set off from Helensburgh on August 28 he would have completed the walk sooner but when he reached Dunbar he had an enforced two-day rest due to an agonisingly sore knee.
The money will help towards taking busloads of schoolchildren to Montrose Basin, and Daniel will let us know what the final total is.
