Another life saving defibrillator has been commissioned by Arbroath Rotary Club with the latest unit being switched to “operational status” at Arbroath Police Station.

Arbroath Rotary Club’s Defibrillator Project Manager Mike Sowden explained: “This is the latest AED or Automatic External Defibrillator that Arbroath Rotary Club has installed. The other units are at the town’s Lifeboat Station, Morrisons, Tesco with another unit installed at Davidsons the chemist in Friockheim. “This is a long-term project for our Rotary Club and we are committed to making a number of these life saving devices available in and around Arbroath.

“All of the Rotary commissioned AEDs in and around Arbroath are maintained by James Williamson and his colleagues of Arbroath First Responders and we are very appreciative of their assistance with this life-saving project. Similarly, we thank Police Scotland for granting permission to install this unit here at Arbroath Police Station.”

Mr Sowden continued: “AEDs have been shown to be life-savers when people have experienced an immediate heart arrhythmia and we are pleased that the Arbroath Community have been totally supportive of this project since it started early in 2014.

“We thank everyone associated with this project for the support they have shown over the past two years.”
