Director guests on top show

AMERICAN TV star Rosie O’Donnell has said she was “moved to tears” by the documentary ‘You’ve Been Trumped’ during an interview with the film’s director Anthony Baxter.

Mr Baxter, who is from Montrose, appeared on her talk show as her main guest last Friday. The show, which has already been broadcast once on the Oprah Winfrey Network, is now due to be repeated according to producers.

Footage of Mr Baxter’s and colleague Richard Phinney’s arrest in 2010 during filming at Donald Trump’s Menie Estate, site of the tycoon’s new £750 million golf resort, was broadcast across America on Friday. It prompted scores of viewers to take to Twitter and Facebook to voice their anger at the actions of Donald Trump, Scotland’s Government and Grampian Police.

The incident prompted fierce criticism from the National Union of Journalists, which described the police’s actions as “a breach of human rights” with “important implications for press freedom”.

The multi award-winning film was screened for a second time in Chicago on Sunday prior to being rolled out for several screenings in Europe. It will also be shown in other major US cities in March.
