SIX CHIEF officers of Angus Council are to take early retirement, and will share a cash pay-out of £672,000 as a result.
They will step down on March 31.
The council is cutting the number of departments it has, and in future there will be three: People, Communities and Resources. These will come into being on April 1.
The applications for early retirement from the following directors were approved by the Strategic Policy Executive sub-committee: Colin McMahon, Corporate Services; Neil Logue, Education; Eric Lowson, Infrastructure Services; Ron Ashton, Neighbourhood Services; Robert Peat, Social Work; and Hugh Robertson, Assistant Chief Executive.
The sub-committee was told that there would be ongoing future annual savings of £358,000.
The first of the new appointments is Alan McKeown, currently head of housing, to be Strategic Director, Communities.
Advertisements are currently being placed for the other two.
