Schools’ Tesco art

Tesco Bank and the National Galleries of Scotland have issued a final call for entries to the 2013 Tesco Bank Art Competition for Schools.

All schools need to do is visit nationalgalleries.org and download the relevant category for your child/class. The deadline is May 3.

The competition invites children from nursery to S2 from schools across Scotland to enter work on a series of themes that relate to Scotland’s national art collection.

Works from the National Galleries of Scotland’s collection at the Scottish National Gallery, Scottish National Gallery of Modern Art and Scottish National Portrait Gallery will be used to inspire young artists, including works from Jeff Koons’ ‘Winter Bears’, FCB Cadell’s ‘The Blue Fan’, and Andy Warhol’s ‘Skulls’.

The categories and themes for the competition are as follows: A (Nursery), Let’s Play; B (P1-3), Dogs: C (P4-7), Scary Monsters and Creepy Things: D (S1-S2), See it, frame it, draw it!; E (Special Educational Needs Schools), Water, Water Everywhere.

All winning entries will be displayed at the Scottish National Gallery from June-October 2013 before a national tour of work.
