A NEW community energy champion has been created to help North east communities connect renewable energy developments to the electricity network.
Appointed by Scottish Hydro Electric Power Distribution (SHEPD), the new role takes account of the dramatic increase in communities seeking to generate their own energy, especially in Scotland.
The key role has been created to champion community energy development within the day to day operations of the north of Scotland electricity network. Communities have often found it difficult to access the expertise necessary to connect their projects and the new role provides a single point of contact to deal with all Community Energy enquiries.
Stewart Reid, future network and policy manager, said: “This key role will help us build on the innovative approach we have already taken to connect and manage developments across our distribution network and we are determined to do all we can to help communities across Scotland realise their renewable ambitions.”
Network connection can now be forwarded to firstname.lastname@example.org.
