Land access issues to be discussed at public meeting

ISSUES relating to land access within Angus will be the subject of an opening meeting which will be held in Arbroath next week.

The Angus Local Access Forum, administered by Angus Council, has organised the event which will be held in Angus College on Thursday, June 21.

The forum was established in 2005 and represents land managers, access users, community groups and other organisations and agencies. Each year, it holds an open meeting when interested members of the public can attend and discuss any issues informally with forum representatives.

The speakers will be forum chairman Gavin Dobson; Andrea Partridge, access officer with the Mountaineering Council of Scotland and Neil Ramsay, heritage paths officer with Scotways. Anyone wishing to take part in the event, which begins at 7pm, should confirm in advance to forum administrator Gillian Phillips by e-mailing phillipsge@angus.gov.uk.

There will shortly be vacancies on the forum for land management representatives, user representatives and community representatives. Anyone wishing to be considered for one of the vacancies can contact Ms Phillips at the same e-mail address or by calling 01307 473334. Applications have to be returned by July 1 and a peer selection procedure will be carried out when details of all candidates have been received.
