WORK Place Chaplaincy Scotland (WPCS) has appointed a new organiser to its east Scotland area, which covers the whole area from Aberdeen to Fife.

Chic Lidstone and a team of chaplains and volunteers will represent the independent Christian charity in the Angus area and will, when invited, provide pastoral and spiritual care to people in their individual lives or in the workplace.

Mr Lidstone’s ‘parish’ will include shopping malls and supermarkets, local authorities and public transport providers and he said inquiries come in regularly from businesses which are beginning to recognise the improvement in staff morale and absenteeism rates that independent chaplains bring to both management and the workforce.

He said: “My new role is exciting and a bit overwhelming. As a Christian I’ve always been conscious that faith needs to be relevant in the work place. I value being able to do that in my own career.”

A former civil engineer, Mr Lidstone spent much of his childhood in Malaysia and Nigeria before his secondary education at Dollar Academy and he moved to Perth in the 1970s.

WPCS is a charity wholly dependent on donations and further information about supporting the charity or becoming a volunteer chaplain is available by contacting Mr Lidstone on 07814093240 or e-mailing chiclidstone@wpcscotland.co.uk.
