A spokesman for the Scottish Fire and Rescue service said: “We received a call at 2.50pm reporting a fire at Grampian View. Appliances attended from Montrose, Brechin and Arbroath. Firefighters arrived to find a well developed fire had already taken hold in the attic of the property and had begun to spread to the loft of an adjacent property. Crews gained access to both homes and using breathing apparatus, used high pressured jests to smother the flames.

“The fire has now been brought under control, but crews are continuing dampening down operations to ensure there is no hidden spread of the fire. The roof of the property where the fire had initially began has collapsed.”
