A Montrose promotion company, North East Musical and Sports Promotions, is putting on a folk music event in the town later this year.
The company will be hosting Montrose Folk 2015 in December - a 12 hour extravaganza featuring some of the country’s top homegrown talent.
Several bands will entertain at Montrose Town Hall, with Skye’s Peatbog Faeries topping the bill, making a welcome return to the North East after starring at Stonehaven’s Hogmany show in 2014.
Charlie Campbell, of North East Musical And Sports Promotions, said: “They are credited as being one of the best live acts there is and have a packed diary of major festival appearances.
“They will play many fantastic tunes from their back catalogue, plus showcase their new album ‘Blackhouse’.
“Also confirmed are Sinderins from Dundee, who many believe to be the next big thing and on the edge of a major breakthrough, they are well known on the festival circuit, certainly a band to look out for with their eagerly-awaited first album set for release.
“Rising star Calum Campbell, who has earned five star reviews for his debut album ‘Walls’ will be a great addition to the bill, as will melodic Fife duo Coaltown Daisies.
“Fresh from their Donnie Munro support slot, Gleadhraich will return to the Town Hall with their unique Celtic sound.
“Colin Clyne, although touring hard with his band The Carrons, will make a rare solo appearance in the afternoon.
“The Carloways from Perth have agreed to make their Montrose debut at the event - again a great live band getting great reviews as they begin their musical journeys.
“An event certainly to warm up a winter’s day.”
More acts will be added soon. Limited tickets for the event, on December 19, are currently available for £20 from the Eventbrite website.
