TC and The Moneymakers

The weekend of Saturday March 28 will see three Montrose venues play host to a trio of top UK blues bands in a spectacular free music event.

Bands, TC and the Moneymakers, Rhythm Zoo and the Groovamatics, featuring the legendary Blues guitarist Johnny Whitehill, will be performing throughout the day at Busby’s Live, Sharky’s Bar and The Star Hotel – three of Montrose’s best-known entertainment establishments.

Starting at 2 p.m. at Busby’s Live and going through to 1 a.m. at Sharky’s Bar and The Star, music lovers will be able to enjoy the very best of British Blues. The free Montrose Spring Blues event will kick off at 2 p.m. with TC and the Moneymakers, a high energy classic Chicago Blues band that have made a huge impact on the British Blues scene. Led by Tom Cocks’ wailing blues harp and vocals, you will not be able to sit still for long.

One of the fastest-rising Blues bands in the UK, Rhythm Zoo, can be found headlining at many of the major Blues festivals including Orkney, Maryport, Limetree, Swanage and the Great British Rhythm and Blues festival. Led by Andi Jones, Rhythm Zoo play a blend of classic and original Blues numbers. Their unique style is pure, smooth, rich, soulful and guaranteed to melt your heart - when you aren’t dancing to Sweet Home Chicago, that is. If you like T Bone Walker, Robert Cray, Cream, Doors, Janis Joplin, Billie Holliday and more, you would be mad to miss the ‘Zoo’.

Fronted by four-time ‘Blues Guitarist Of The Year’, Johnny Whitehill and the Groovamatics play rich Chicago Blues like no other band. Ranked in the top 10 of the all-time great British Blues guitarists, Johnny has been a feature of the British Blues scene since the 1970s, when he was guitarist with the Blues Burglars. For those living a distance from Montrose, organisers have scheduled this event so you can see the bands, enjoy a drink and let the bus or the train get you home. If you wish to stay, the Star Hotel are offering preferential rates.
