REHEARSALS are now underway for Tayside Symphony Orchestra’s next concert which will take place on Saturday, June 23 in the Reid Hall, Forfar, starting at 7.30 pm.
The programme for this concert, entitled “Soiree de la Musique Francaise”, is “La Belle Helene” by Offenbach, Bizet’s “Carmen Suite”, the “Joyeuse Marche” by Chabrier and Bizet’s Symphony No. 1.
The concert is being dedicated to the memory of Michael Wilson, who died in March. Michael worked as a volunteer for TSO for almost 20 years and he will be very much missed by musicians and committee for all his efforts on their behalf.
Ron Walker, the TSO conductor said: “As part of the proceeds for this concert are being given to Forfar-Chabanais Twinning Association we thought it appropriate to have a French theme with musical items which should appeal to all tastes.
“We do hope our loyal Angus fan base will come along to support us in large numbers as I’m sure they will enjoy what we have to offer by way of entertainment.
“At the February concert we invited school-age children to our final rehearsal, free of charge.
“This was very successful and we intend to do the same at all our future concerts.
“As usual we intend to run a bus from Montrose and Brechin to Forfar at a nominal cost: those interested should contact John Stevenson (Montrose 830250) as soon as possible.
“I look forward to joining members of the audience with a glass of refreshment at the close of the concert.”
Tickets will be on sale from the Toy Castle, Castle Street, Forfar; Hoggs, High Street, Montrose; any member of TSO/TSO committee; also at the door on the evening of the concert.
