TWO LOCAL girls are will see months of training pay off this weekend when they take to the streets of Edinburgh to raise money for cancer charities Maggie’s Centre and Cancer Research.

Friends Abby Tait and Paula Richardson will run the city’s marathon on Sunday in what will be their first long-distance run.

Abby said: “It’s going to be a challenge! We both enjoy keeping fit and ran regularly before we started training, however we have had to put in lots more hours of running to build up the mileage.

“We’ve enjoyed finding different routes in and around the Montrose area and have battled through snow, sleet, rain, wind you name it although we have enjoyed running in the sunshine the last few weeks.

“We are both running in memory of family members who sadly lost their battle against cancer. So many people are affected by this horrible illness and both Maggies Cancer Caring centre and Cancer research do a great job in providing support for loved ones and their families.”

Both Abby and Paula have set up JustGiving pages for sponsorship which can be found at www.justgiving.com/abby-tait and www.justgiving.com/paula-richardson1.
