A collection of poems and songs about the town by a Montrosian have been republished by his great great grandson.

Originally published in 1899, ‘Bonnie Montrose’ by town resident William F. McHardy was forgotten for more than a century until the author’s great great grandson, Bob McHardy, rediscovered it and decided to republish it in memory of his ancestor and to raise some money for charity.

The book was re-issued to coincide with the 70th birthday of the author’s great-grandson, Robert (Bob’s father).

This facsimile edition is a paperback reproduction of the original book which was published in Montrose by George A. Bowman.

The reprinted book was launched at Tesco in Montrose on Saturday (December 6) as several members of the McHardy family are Tesco employees.
