Montrose car firm Guthrie Brothers has shown its support for young people in the town, through its sponsorship of the primary schools’ winter tennis coaching programme.

Guthrie Brothers has supported the programme for the past eight seasons.

Director Derek Mitchell handed a cheque over to Montrose Tennis Club committee member Barbara Watson at Rosemount Primary School on Wednesday, where pupils from primary three were taking part in a ‘tennis taster’ session with coach, Graeme Walker.

Mrs Watson said: “The club is greatly encouraged by this coaching generosity, which has meant that our coach, Graeme, can work with primary three pupils throughout the local schools.

“The people of Montrose have supported our efforts over the past few years and Guthrie Brothers commitment to supporting the winter programme in schools is a very important element in encouraging young people into the sport.”
