ANGUS Council’s social work committee has approved a three-year strategy to support the growing number of carers in Angus.
Carers will be helped to a life outside caring, to improve their own health and well-being, with attention given to the requirements of young carers.
Councillor Glennis Middleton said: “Carers save the country £119 billion each year but they can feel isolated and discriminated against, as well as experiencing poverty and ill health. In Angus, 11 per cent of the population are carers but there are ‘hidden carers’. We must be sure all carers are supported in all aspects of their lives as they care for others, frail or disabled.”
