THE FIRST ever Four Seasons Rock Award in Montrose has been made to Karen Stewart (22), who works at Montrose Care Home, Broomfield Road.

Nominations for the award are made by relatives of residents, and such was the persuasiveness of the letter about Karen, she was hailed a worthy winner.

In the name of the award, ‘Rock’ stands for ‘Recognition Of Care and Kindness’.

The presentation was made on Wednesday at Montrose Care Home by the manager, Louise Fisher.

When she was told of the award Karen was quite emotional, and even more so when she read the kind letter that had led to her being honoured.

She expressed her gratitude to those who nominated her.

Karen has been working at the care home since October, 2009.

She has an SVQ 2 qualification, and is about to undertake SVQ 3.

Montrose Care Home was purpose-built 18 years ago.

It has trained nurses and care staff providing different levels of care on a 24-hour basis to suit a range of needs from those who are generally frail to those who are EMI (elderly mentally ill).

Four Seasons Care Homes operate 62 homes in Scotland, and around 440 in total taking England and the Channel Islands into account. They care for more than 25,000 people.
