Improving life with autism

THE REPORT of a three-year partnership project looking at ways to improve outcomes for young people with autism moving from school to adult life was presented to Angus Council Social Work and Health committee on Thursday.

The project was a joint venture between the council and Capability Scotland and set out to identify both the support available to young people with autism in Angus and the gaps in service provision.

Sixteen proposals were put forward to make services for people with autism in Angus more responsive and effective.

A number of the report’s recommendations have been brought into practice, including the establishment of an annual transition information fair and the setting up of a volunteer enabling scheme for people with autism.
