THE SPLENDID sum of £5,000 has been given to Links Park Community Trust by the Montrose Events Committee.

The money was largely raised by the recent Elvis Tribute concert in the town hall, which was apparently the last event to be staged by that fund-raising body.

As reported in last week’s Review, members of Montrose Events have stepped down.

On behalf of the Links Park Community Fund, general manager Mr Peter Davidson expressed his grateful thanks for the very welcome boost.

He said the money will be put towards the development of health and educational programmes.

A meeting of the trustees will be held in the next few days to decide the best way to utilise the money.

The trustees are: Derek Sim, chairman, Montrose Football Club; Roy Gill, general manager, Montrose Roselea Junior Football Club; Brian Rice, HR leader, GlaxoSmithKline; and Ross Murray, finance director, Acumen Accountants and Advisors.

Freda Stewart – Health Improvement Partnership Manager, Angus CHP, is an advisor to the trustees.

Mr Davidson emphasised that the Community Trust acts to help people of all ages, with sport as a catalyst for change.

Its website can be found at www.linksparkct.org.uk and it gives details of the trust’s aims, as well as how to become a volunteer.
