STAFF at a local opticians’ have raised £1,850 after getting their walking shoes on in a bid to fight breast cancer.
After training hard for their marathon walk, six members of the team at Specsavers on the High Street strode out for the 26.2 mile midnight march through the streets of the Edinburgh.
With the backing of their sponsors, plus money raised through previous fund-raising events and by selling breast cancer badges, the grand total was amassed.
Bridgeen Johnston, director of Specsavers Montrose, said: “We would like to thank everyone for their support and all the sponsorship from friends, family and the public.
“We’re all delighted to have raised such a fantastic amount for a really deserving charity that is close to our hearts. It made all that training worthwhile, as well as the sore feet after the event.”
