THE HUNT is on for local doctors, nurses, pharamacists and other health professionals who go the extra mile for their patients and communities.
The Health Hero Awards involve a nationwide quest to find those who have gone far beyond the call of duty and have delivered outstanding care and support, unsung heroes either on the front line or behind the scenes who deserve recognition.
Nominations, which opened last Wednesday, March 20 and will close on April 19, can be made online at www.lloydspharmacy.co.uk/healthhero or by picking up a form at a local Lloyds Pharmacy.
Five finalists will be selected and invited to a prestigious award dinner in London in June where an overall winner will be chosen. The prize for the winner is a £5,000 holiday.
Jeremy Hunt, health secretary, said: “Staff and volunteers are at the heart of the NHS. I have had the privilege to meet hundreds of truly inspirational people who work tirelessly to care for their patients. Their work and commitment is priceless and we can never praise them highly enough.
“I would urge as many members of the public as possible to nominate their own health heroes and help us celebrate the incredible work that takes place everyday in our health service.”
Cormac Tobin, Celesio UK & Lloydspharmacy managing director, added: “We know there are lots of health heroes out there doing a fantastic job and they deserve credit for that.
“As a company Lloydspharmacy is committed to supporting improvements in patient care across the healthcare sector and Health Heroes is one way of achieving that”.
