A NEW charging policy will be introduced next month for people receiving social work services in their own home.
Around 820 people in Angus will see changes to their charges and are being contacted by Angus Council by letter this week to explain the position more fully.
All service users affected will be offered a financial assessment to ensure they are not paying more for services than they can reasonably afford and that they are receiving all the state benefits to which they are entitled.
Social work and health convener Councillor Alison Andrews said that all service users were contacted in May to explain the new policy which, she said, is simpler and fairer and replaces a policy drawn up 15 years ago.
Social work staff will contact service users to discuss details of the changes but anyone with questions or concerns should talk to their care manager or any other member of social work staff. They can also call the council’s ACCESSLine on 08452 777 778.
