FREE weight management classes are to be made available to people in Montrose.
Those signing up for the classes will hear about healthy lifestyles and how to lose weight.
‘The Winning Weigh’ weight management programme is run by trained staff from Angus Community Health Partnership.
Classes last one hour and are held in the in Montrose Town Hall at 3pm on Thursdays.
The Winning Weigh programme is not a diet; it aims to help people change their eating and exercise habits which, in turn, help them to lose weight.
It is described as a friendly and interactive course designed specifically for people who are serious about taking on the challenge of losing weight.
At each session trained staff will be available, offering practical advice and encouragement to help people to adopt healthier lifestyle choices, improve fitness levels and reduce their body mass index.
Ongoing support will be available after the programme is completed, as staff will be running free drop-in sessions where people can just pop in and be weighed and have a chat.
The programme is for men and women who have a Body Mass Index (BMI) of 25 or above.
To work out your BMI divide your weight in kilograms by your height in metres squared, for example 85 ÷ (1.52 x 1.52). If your BMI is 25 or above, you are invited to join Winning Weigh.
Keep Well Health Coach Kaye Bruce said: “Winning Weigh classes are not just focused on diets. The programme covers many health topics and people will hear about healthier eating, eating the right amounts of food for a healthy weight, getting enough exercise and making good lifestyle choices.
“Winning weigh classes on this rolling programme are continuing to be very popular.”
