North East Liberal Democrat MSP Alison McInnes praised a major new child care package unveiled by Deputy Prime Minister Nick Clegg last week.
The new tax-free child care scheme - announced by the Liberal Democrats last year - will be increased from £1,200 to £2,000 per child and will be brought forward to Autumn 2015.
Those working part-time, on maternity leave or starting their own business will also be eligible for support with their child care costs.
Mrs McInnes told the Review: “Some 3,500 families in Angus could benefit from this boost to the tax-free child care allowance. All children deserve the best start in life. This package shows how, by working together across the UK, we can ensure that everyone has the chance to get on in succeed. That is why Scottish Liberal Democrats, led by Willie Rennie, have worked with the SNP government to secure our reasonable and costed plans to expand free child care to more two year olds.”
