Barnardo’s Scotland shops in Angus and Dundee have launched their Great Winter Stock Appeal to raise money for Scotland’s most vulnerable children. And supporting the appeal is Scottish-born Hobbit Wizard and seventh Doctor Who, actor Sylvester McCoy.

Fresh from filming on the New Zealand set of Peter Jackson’s latest Hobbit epic and touring the world as the Seventh Doctor Who, actor Sylvester McCoy has taken time out of his busy schedule to support the launch of Barnardo’s Great Winter Stock Appeal.

Sylvester said: “I was happy to take the time to get involved in this very important appeal for Barnardo’s. They urgently need donations of pre-loved winter coats, woollies and accessories to help their stores build the stock they need to sell this winter.”

Ailsa Cane, Area Business Manager for local shops in Arbroath, Dundee and Montrose, told the Review: “We always receive great support from the local community, but now that the warmer weather is finally here it’s the perfect time to clear out any pre-loved winter clothes. Our shops are desperately in need of quality winter donations. It’s important that we gather as much winter stock as possible to keep up with customer demand when the colder weather hits.”
