Hopes of starting a Scout troop in St Cyrus have been raised after a recent public meeting in the village.
Organised by the Kincardineshire and District Scout Council, the meeting was postponed in December due to the severe weather. Organisers now say they are hopeful a troop can be formed.
Council chairman Hugh Ramsay said that while there was not a large turnout for the meeting, the level of interest was “encouraging”. Another meeting will be held next month when it is hoped a committee will be formed.
Mr Ramsay also said there is a need for support from local parents, former scouts and other adults willing to help out. The aim is to form a Beaver colony and Cub pack before later establishing a Scout troop and the age range is six to eight years for Beavers, eight to 10 for Cubs and 10 to 14 for Scouts. All sections are open to boys and girls.
The next meeting will be on Thursday, March 10, in St Cyrus scout hut at 7.30pm.
