MONTROSE Caledonia Golf Club (MCGC) are preparing to host the first ever charity Texas Scramble in aid of Debra next month.
The competition - which organisers Lisa Stone from Debra and Jason Stone, MCGC club captain, hope will become an annual event - is to be held in memory of local girl Adana Forsyth who died aged just 10 years old.
On November 22, 2008, the local community was saddened by the loss of Adana who was known as the ‘Montrose Butterfly Girl’.
Adana suffered from a genetic defect, epidermolysis bullosa (EB), which caused her skin to blister with the slightest touch or trauma forcing her to endure almost constant pain throughout her short life.
During her life, Adana and her parents worked tirelessly to raise awareness of the condition.
Lisa said: “As she touched the hearts of so many we would like to continue to raise awareness in her memory.”
The event will take place on Sunday, April 17, on the Montrose Links Championship Medal Course and will be sponsored by Polished Nail Boutique, Montrose.
The competition is open to teams of four with any combination of ladies (30 handicap) gents (18) or juniors.
Tee Times will be from 8am to 3pm and will be allocated on a first come first served basis and the day will include a bacon roll, refreshments on the course and a hot and cold buffet afterwards. There will be prizes for first, second, third and fourth places as well as spot prizes.
The cost per team is £100.
Following the event there will be a presentation of the ‘Adana Memorial Trophy’ to the overall winning team.
Lisa added: “In order for us to raise as much money as possible to help research into this awful condition, we are looking not only for team entries into the main event but also for sponsorship and donations of any kind should it be main prizes, raffle prizes or spot prizes.
“All sponsors will be featured in the event programme and on Debra, Polished Nail Boutique and Montrose Caledonia Golf Club websites and Facebook pages.”
