THE ABSENCE of a street name plate on Jack Smith Road has irked a number of local people for some years.
But it appears that this omission may now be rectified.
A member of the public contacted Montrose Museum to ask about the road, which was mentioned as a locator in a recent planning application for a wind turbine.
The complainer is now delighted to have been shown an e-mail from an Angus Council planning official, which states: “I confirm that Jack Smith Road is the L-shaped road leading off the south side of Cobden Street, just east of the private access leading to the pumping station.
“I am unsure why a street name plate was not erected previously, other than perhaps is does not serve any properties.
“Nevertheless, I will arrange for street name plates to be erected in due course.”
