JOLLY Jim the clown was in Montrose on Friday, collecting for The Tree of Hope, a registered charity.

It sends children with specialist medical needs for treatment not available on the NHS and which their parents cannot afford.

And when Jim ‘phoned the office on Monday he was delighted to report that he had collected the grand sum of £321.88 for the good cause.

He said: “Bearing in mind the state of the economy, the people of Montrose have been exceptionally generous. It is such a joy that people are willing to share a little of what they have, to help families in great need. People have such big hearts.”

Jim said he has been involved with the charity for 13 years, and never ceases to be amazed at how kind people are.

By the time he had finished, his basket of badges was quite empty.
