A northbound section of the A90 is to close overnight on Monday, May 16 to allow for work to be carried out.

Late night and and early morning commuters may be affected, with the A90 to be closed between King’s Cross Junction and Old Glamis Road roundabout.

The overnight work will involve the installation of temporary roadside safety barriers at Strathmartine Road Footbridge in preparation for the upcoming reinstatement of the damaged staircase which resulted from a vehicle collision earlier in the year.

The closure will be in place from 7.30pm to 6.30am and is required to ensure the safety of roadworkers as well as motorists due to the nature of the road operations.

A short signed diversion will be in place for motorists during the overnight closure.

Reconstruction of the footbridge pier and staircase will begin in the near future and further information on this will be provided in due course.

Andy Thompson, BEAR Scotland’s Representative for the North East, said: “The installation of the temporary safety barriers at Strathmartine Road Roundabout is essential to ensure our site is safe in advance of the upcoming reconstruction of the footbridge stairs.

“We have done all we can to minimise disruption by limiting our work to a single night. We encourage motorists to plan their journey in advance and to check the Traffic Scotland website for real time information before setting out.”
