MONTROSIAN Laura Walker, now residing in the shadows of the East London Olympic Site, is facing the challenge of a lifetime as she gears up to run this year’s London Marathon.

Laura (27), will be donning her lycra on April 27, and running 26.2 miles to raise money for Macmillan Cancer Support.

She said: “I’ve watched my dad and lots of other amazing people run it for the past 10 years.”

“I enjoy swimming in the local ‘Lido’ and ride everywhere on my squeaky bike around the London streets, but running has never been my strong point! Let the hard work commence!”

The hard work will all be worthwhile for Laura if she succeeds in raising £2,000 for Macmillan Cancer Support.

She will be running in memory of Edith Low, and her Uncle Kenny who most recently passed away. “One in three of us will all get this horrid disease in our lives.

“Having witnessed the support the Macmillan teams have provided for loved ones and their families, we will be grateful for any pennies or pounds donated, every little helps!” You can sponsor Laura by visiting her online fund-raising page on

You can pay by credit or debit card, and the money will go directly to Macmillan Cancer Support.

Where supporters are UK taxpayers, the charity will automatically receive 28 per cent extra in Gift Aid, which makes Justgiving the most efficient way of sponsoring Laura.
