The legal high shop in Montrose was broken into and a quantity of the substances it sells stolen.

Police in Angus are appealing for information following a break-in to Evape-O-Lution on Montrose High Street that happened between Sunday (February 15) and 9 a.m. on Monday, February 16.

A quantity of new psychoactive substances (NPS), more commonly known as legal highs, were stolen.

In appealing for information to assist with enquiries Police in Tayside Division would also warn of the dangers of consuming unknown substances.

A spokeswoman said: “These substances can be professionally packaged and branded, but this does not remove the substantial risk to health.

“Anyone who is tempted to try items packaged as ‘legal highs’, or ‘herbal highs’ as they are also known, can have no idea of what they actually contain.

“The term ‘legal high’ is misleading and implies a level of safety - the reality is that they could have been mixed with illegal drugs and/or other potentially harmful substances.

“As well as the mystery as to what they actually contain, the strength and effects of the drug, cannot be fully known. As a consequence taking these substances comes with the significant risk of serious short and long term illness, overdose or even death.

“We would strongly advise against consuming any unknown or psychoactive substances - anybody who takes them could be putting their life in danger. If anyone has taken these substances and is unwell, they should seek medical advice immediately”.

Anyone who has any information that could lead to the recovery of these items should contact Police Scotland on 101.

Alternatively, info can be passed anonymously via the charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
