Montrose Rotary Club president Tony Rance has handed over the chain of office to Lisa Stevenson.
Lisa said: “Little did I know, growing up in the backwoods of Glenfoudland in Aberdeenshire where there was no club of any sort to join that I would one day become not only a member of the Rotary club of Montrose but president thereof.
“I have seen myself described as a ‘retired teacher’ but that doesn’t really cut it.
“As on original hippy I did the old Overland Trail in a proverbial VDub campervan through Asia, eventually, after six months of travelling, ending up in Australia.
“I lived in Germany and Holland for 20 years, travelled for many months in backpacking conditions through South East Asia and have been spending time in India every winter since 2008.
“In fact, the very first time I attended a Rotary meeting was in Calcutta through a chance meeting with an American professor in a bookshop. And look where it has led me to. You couldn’t make it up”.
Montrose Rotary Club meets on Tuesday at 6.15pm in the George Hotel, George Street.
