Littering and fly tipping make for a mucky Montrose

Two Review readers have been in touch to highlight the issues of littering and fly tipping in Montrose.

Firstly, Joan Dunn supplied the accompanying photograph and states that this is not the first example of fly tipping at this location.

She said: “They have done it again. Same waste in same yellow bags dumped over the fence at the car park this time. That’s the car park to the right at the entrance to Charleton farm.”

Another reader, addressing their email ‘sad Montrose resident’, and enclosing a photograph of rubbish-strewn streets, had this to say: “Angus Council is allowing our town to become a dump! Their environmental waste collection is obviously not working!

“We all have a part to play in keeping Montrose a pleasant and thriving town, not a dirty uninviting place. It’s time folk got together, demanded a better service, and worked with the council to achieve this.”

An Angus Council spokesperson said: “Fly tipping can be dangerous and harm the environment and can prove costly to clear. We would urge the public to report any incidents to our ACCESSLine on 08452 777.”
