LOCAL band Peyton Place are hoping to hit the big time with a supporting slot for pop/rock sensation McFly.

They boys are in the running via McFly’s popular website, ‘Supercity’ and along with thousands of other hopefuls are competing for a chance to support McFly at one of their 26 gigs across the nation next year.

Peyton Place, who have only been together since May 2010, have already managed to amass a great fan base both locally and all over Scotland, with gigs in Aberdeen, Glasgow and Edinburgh as well as a few hometown shows.

Earlier in the year they were awarded top prize in Tay FM’s Battle of the Bands competition.

Frontman Chris Tomlinson is hopeful the locals of Montrose would back the band in their bid to stardom.

He told us: “We’re really passionate about what we do and we put a lot of hard work and effort into trying to put on a great show, so for an opportunity like this to come along would just be fantastic.

“We’ve always said that McFly are one of our main inspirations when it comes to songwriting, and to support them would just be a dream come true. Pretty much everybody has a facebook account these days, and that’s all that’s needed to cast your vote. It takes less than 10 seconds and it would help us out so much.”

You must have a facebook account, then search Peyton Place on the Battle of the Bands section of the Supercity site, and click ‘like’. It’s that simple.

The guys are publicising the competition via their facebook page: www.facebook.com/peytonplaceband which has links to the ‘Supercity’ website.

And you should also be able to visit the competition page directly by going to: http://supercity.mcfly.com/battleofthebands
