A local bike shop is sponsoring the first ever triathlon in Montrose taking place in the summer and is offering participants a discount.

Mr Bikes, based on Hill Street, has got on board as a prize sponsor for the inaugural 2014 Montrose Triathlon, run by Tri Angus Limited, on Sunday, June 1.

Rick White, of Mr Bikes, said: “Mike, the mechanic, and I are both delighted to help support this brand new event.

“Not only does it give us a chance to showcase our business, but it also lets people see what the local area has to offer”.

As well as sponsoring some of the prizes, Mr Bikes is also offering a £5 discount on servicing to all Montrose Triathlon participants, which is taking place at in the town’s sports centre, on Marine Avenue.

If you are taking part in the event, simply show Mike your confirmation e-mail when you take your bike along for its service to get the discount.

Maggie Lawrie, Tri Angus Limited executive director, said: “To have a bike partner involved with the race is something I’m really pleased about.

“The link with Mr Bikes is clearly an excellent fit for the event and I’m delighted they have agreed to offer both prizes and a discount to all participants on servicing.”

Mr Bikes will also be running a bike clinic on race day morning for any last minute issues participants might have.

Maggie added: “Hopefully Mike’s magic touch will allow people to set some fast times on the bike leg of the event.”

The shop has recently been confirmed as a partner store for the ‘Cycle to Work’ scheme.

Also sponsoring the event are Kirsty Hay Massage, who is offering four 30 minute massage vouchers as prizes, and Carnoustie Creative, who are designing and printing posters and flyers for the event.
