Montrose apprentice hairdresser Natalie Keay (18) is one in four hairdressing apprentices to win an award out of more than 170 in the country.

Natalie – who works at the Bodywork salon on Murray Street – scooped the Level 2 Cut & Finish award at the Athena Learning Ltd Awards.

The ceremony was held in Falkirk and more than 170 apprentices from 90 salons in Scotland were up for only four awards.

Natalie said: “I’m delighted. I didn’t expect to win.”

“I was worried about entering the competition at first, but it has boosted my confidence. I would recommend to other apprentices to enter these kinds of awards.

Jennifer Glanville, owner of Bodywork, said: “We’re all really proud of Natalie’s achievements.

“She works really hard and is dedicated. She deserves this award.”

Natalie will now be continuing her training for the third year of her hairdressing apprenticeship.
