Bad parking in Montrose is an issue

Local councillor David May has received many complaints from locals regarding motorists “bad parking” in the town.

Mr May told the Review: “I have recently had several complaints about bad parking in the High Street as well as other streets such as George Street and Murray Street in Montrose.

“In the last few days it is clear that there are increasing problems of bad parking, and I have noticed that there for example, there seem to be more drivers parking their cars on double yellow lines, and drivers leaving their motor vehicles for much longer than they are supposed to.

Mr May wished to point out that Angus Council still employ the same number of traffic wardens.

He added: “It is worth pointing out that Angus Council still employ the same number of traffic wardens and this is not cannot be the cause of the increased problem.

“However, I believe that the role of the police when it comes to parking, due to Police Scotland policy, has changed and that their role in parking is now much less.”
