Drivers who were parking illegally outside of schools were targeted last week as police officers in Montrose cracked down on them.

Officers carried out a five day initiative to catch offenders outside St Margaret’s School, South Esk Primary and Ferryden Primary School.

Montrose community officers Ally Hutchison and Tracy Brown were joined by additional community officers from the Angus Local Policing Area and the Roads Policing Unit between last Monday (March 24) and Friday (March 28).

Six fixed penalty notices were issued to drivers during the week - five at Ferryden Primary School and one at St Margaret’s Primary School.

PC Hutchison said: “Feedback from parents, members of staff and visitors to the schools has been very positive.

“I hope the message is getting across. We’re here to help protect the vulnerable members of our community and if it means carrying out further enforcement initiatives in the future - we will do so.”
