With less than 100 days until Montrose Music Festival 2014 kicks off, work is well under way organising another fantastic line up for this year’s event.
Montrose Music Festival (Mo Fest) brings a significant boost to the local economy and is now considered to be the biggest free independent music festival in Scotland and is the pinnacle of the local music scene.
The committee work all year round to plan for the three day weekend in May and as a registered charity the festival relies heavily on fund-raising to be able to put on the eagerly anticipated annual event.
David Paton, chairman, said: “The stage, lights and sound for the Saturday and Sunday High Street event cost into the thousands alone.”
There are a number of ways local businesses can support the festival. Sponsorship packages are now available, which ensure companies logos are prominently displayed on the High Street event stage or at the Friday evening headline gig. Businesses can also purchase advertising space in the festival programme from as little as £30.
The community can also contribute through a My Donate page that has been set up.
Mr Paton said: “If the 12,000 people that saw our Facebook poster last week donated just £1 each, we could do some incredible things. The community are always fully supportive of the festival but just think of what we could do with another £12,000.”
The Montrose District Pool League (MDPL) have started off the donations by giving £100 to the festival.
Iain Soutar, MDPL secretary, said: “The MDPL would like to extend our gratitude to Montrose Music Festival for giving us the opportunity to give something back to the community, whom without we wouldn’t have our own success.”
Mr Paton said: “The MoFest committee pass on their sincere thanks for this contribution.”
Applications for this year’s festival close on March 1 for all bands and solo artists, including youth and DJ acts.
