The GP Unit at Montrose Infirmary will be open again for admissions from today (Wednesday, July 16).
NHS Tayside shut Montrose Royal Infirmary in April, following the failure of its heating and water systems.
Its community maternity unit re-opened on June 21, resuming full services since then.
However, the GP ward has remained closed with patients from Montrose being cared for at Brechin Infirmary, but now the health board has announced that it will re-open today.
A spokesperson for NHS Tayside said: “There are currently six Montrose patients being cared for at Brechin.
“The individual patients will be clinically assessed, in consultation with their own GP, to see if transfer to the GP Unit at Montrose Infirmary is appropriate.
“We would like to thank all staff and GPs in Brechin and Montrose for their support in ensuring patients and their families continued to receive the best care possible during the temporary closure.”
