Sign application refused

AN APPLICATION by The Money Shop for advertising signage at 24 High Street has been refused by planning officials under delegated powers.

The application was also for listed building consent.

Refusal was on the grounds: “That the proposed signage would, by virtue of its material finish, colour and lighting, have an adverse impact on the special interest of the listed building and would be contrary to Policy ER15 of the Angus Local Plan Review.

Also turned down was an application by Mr Akhtar for replacement windows and rear door at 4 Panmure Place

The reasons for refusal were that the proposed use of simulated astragals in the windows would have a detrimental impact on the character and appearance of the property and on Montrose Outstanding Conservation Area.

However, an application for a dormer extension to the flatted dwelling at 27A Palmerston Street for Mr Ian Marr was approved.

Also approved in recent weeks were alterations to 26B High Street for Mr Thomas Bruce, with standard conditions attached relating to external wall treatment, precise details of new window design and details of any proposed flues/extract vents and any additional external plumbing works.
