A 63-year-old man from the St Cyrus area died after being involved in a car accident in Aberdeenshire.

James Duncan was pronounced dead at the scene after officers found a beige coloured Beauford Convertible had left the road and collided with street furniture.

The single vehicle collision happened at about 7 p.m. on Friday (April 4) on the southbound carriageway of the A90 Aberdeen to Dundee road at the Muchalls bends.

Road policing sergeant Steve Milne said: “We are appealing to anyone who witnessed the collision or saw this distinctive vehicle being driven on the road shortly before the collision to come forward.

“At the time of the collision driving conditions were good and it is vital that we piece together what has happened.

“Witness accounts are key to this and a full investigation into the circumstances is now underway.”

The southbound A90 was closed for five hours on Friday while investigations took place.

If you have any information, please call 101.
