Students from local theatre arts school, The Song Shop, are heading into the last few weeks of rehearsal for their end of year production.
’Songs to Make You Smile’ is plethora of upbeat songs and dances.
The show runs from Wednesday, June 18, to Saturday, June 21 in Montrose Town Hall and performances start at 7.30 p.m.
Billed as“a musical review of songs old and new”, there will be music from of musicals, Disney, recent pop anthems, and songs that have stood the test of time, including“’New York, New York’”, “Our House”’,‘“Happy’”,’Let it Go’” and“’Any Dream Will Do’”.
The cast ranges in age from three to 80, with many youngsters and adults being given the chance to sing solo for the first time.
Song Shop founder Fraser McGlynn said: “‘“Songs to Make You Smile’ is the perfect vehicle for us to showcase the breadth of talent that we have. We spent last term developing the youngsters’ confidence to sing solo, and many of them have decided to do so for the first time”.
This review-type show is a break in tradition as The Song Shop usually presents a book-show in June.
Fraser continued: “We need to give our next wave of principal characters the experience of performing on their own, to develop their skills and confidence to play parts in our future productions.”
“We have begun planning for “’Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs”’ in December, and will announce next June’s production fairly soon.””
Tickets for ‘“Songs to Make You Smile’ are available from Henry Hogg Newsagents, Montrose High Street, or from The Song Shop on 01674 673236.
