Suspected thieves near Sunnyside
SUSPICIOUS persons and vehicles in Hillside have been reported to Tayside Police on a number of occasions over the past few weeks.
Police say they believe these reports are linked to thefts from the buildings at Sunnyside Royal Hospital.
As a result officers are requesting that if members of the public become aware of any suspicious activity or unusual vehicles in the village or in the Sunnyside grounds, they should be contacted immediately to enable them to trace and question those concerned.
A spokesman said: “Should the incident be ongoing, the emergency 999 number should be used, or if less urgent, 0300 111 2222.
“Descriptions of persons and details of vehicles, including make, model and colour, would be useful, but in particular the registration number of any vehicle should be noted and provided.
“If in doubt call police, as they would rather deal with a well-intentioned false alarm than miss the opportunity of tracing persons responsible for criminal activities.”
Other police incidents
Police are also seeking information about a theft by housebreaking from the New 2 U shop off Murray Lane, between 5.45pm on Saturday, and 8.45am on Sunday.
A substantial amount of jewellery was stolen, including watches.
Anyone who may have information is urged to contact Tayside Police on the non-emergency number, or the Crimestoppers Line anonymously on 0800 555 111.
And also on Saturday, between 11.15am and 5.15pm, damage was caused to the metal gates of St Margaret’s Presbytery, Market Street, as illegal entry was gained.
There have been a number of instances of vandalism in town.
Some time between 9pm on Saturday and 8.15am on Monday, the bonnet and nearside wing of a blue MG ZR motor car were damaged while the vehicle was parked and unattended in Ferry Street.
And between 6pm on Saturday and 7am on Sunday, a white Toyota car was vandalised, when both its door mirrors were broken.

Property found in town and handed in to Montrose Police over the past week has included the following.
A Volkswagen car key, a house key, a set of two keys, a Young Scot card, a child’s rucksack and a couple of bank cards.
