Members of the Angus Conservative & Unionist Association have selected their Westminster candidate for the General Election in May 2015 - Mr Derek Wann from Arbroath.
Stephen Rickman - the Association Chairman said: “He was delighted to announce that Derek Wann had been selected on Saturday from the five excellent candidates.
“At the well attended, enthusiastic and positive meeting Derek won on the first ballot involving around 50 members. We must all now work together to get him elected in 2015”.
Mr Wann said: “He was thoroughly delighted to have been selected to be the Conservative candidate for Angus in the 2015 Westminster election. I promise to campaign tirelessly for the good of the constituency and the party in Scotland. To ensure the people of Angus get the candidate they deserve.”
Mr Wann is a familiar face at the NE Conference and is a local businessman, living in Arbroath and has done a power of work for the Better Together campaign in the area.
He has opposed the closing of the Sheriff Courts and Police Counters in the area and been a high profile campaigner against “legal highs” which were being retailed in several local shops.
He has been a Commercial Director of Deeside Timberframe Ltd and currently runs his own construction & property development business.
A Director of the Angus Citizens Advice Bureau and involved in rugby coaching, football and golf makes Derek a dynamic and new candidate to fight Angus.
