Ferryden Primary School pupils dived in at the deep end and raised £500 for six-year-old Montrose girl Abbi Reid, who has cerebral palsy, by doing a sponsored swimathon.

Another £100 was donated by the Morphie Charity Company, to bring the to total £600.

In November, 11 youngsters took to the swimming pool at Montrose Sports Centre to raise money for physio costs for Abbi. It was organised by 10-year-old Ferryden Primary pupil Kira May Cherrington (in the middle with Abbi).

Her grandmother said: “We are really proud of them. They all deserve a pat on the back.”
