THE next exhibition at The Meffan in Forfar is by Dundee artist Louise Ritchie.
The exhibition, entitled Imagineering, reflects her continued exploration of experience versus imagination and her obsessive dialogue with line, tone and colour.
Her work exploits canvas, paper, print and stitching using paint, ink and thread to create real and imagined spaces which encourage the viewer to look from afar, up close and through. Louise describes her process of painting as “about constructing atmospheric spaces where light and colour are layered and which are punctuated by motifs that allow the eye to travel in and around the painting. She said: “My paintings are not representational but are more a memory of places, influenced by the emotions and events of the time. The physicality of paint and the variety of scale and surfaces are all integral to the development of the work”.
Imagineering opens on Saturday, September 8 and runs until Saturday, October 6.
